Anna Wode

Anna Wode was born in Moscow (Russia) but grew up mainly in Germany. She has also lived in Austria and France, of which she acquired citizenship. Anna currently lives and works in Luxembourg. She studied economics, first in Russia and then in Germany and France. Her art project started in 2017 as a kind of art therapy, while on long-term sick leave. The desire to make sculptures, work clay, paint, and other activities such as batik, jewelry, while self-taught came almost suddenly.

"It is difficult to explain, one day I felt the almost irresistible need to sculpt and I did it." Painting will become his main activity.

Anna Wode's style of painting can be described as figurative expressionism. The themes are inspired by the beauty of the aquatic world and femininity. The color blue is a nod to Picasso's blue period, which Anna Wode greatly appreciates. She is also fascinated by the work of Toulouse-Lautrec, her works span the period from the late 19th century to the early 20th century in a more modern style, however.

Another source of inspiration are the mosaics of the famous Spanish architect Antonio Gaudí. The strokes of the brush or spatula are harmoniously placed and form a mosaic that reflects the theme imposed by inspiration. Anna Wode's paintings immerse us in the artist's emotions, which mix with ours. With her artistic proposal of her blue line (blue Period), Anna Wode tries to reveal to us the existence of a harmonious world of the ocean and its monochromatic spaces. It is interesting to note that "woda" in Russian means "water", almost similar to its pen name.

Let's take some of the artist's paintings:

Duality and Contrast

Duality, black and white, evil and good, darkness and light. This dilemma has been around for centuries. They are opposite but very complementary. What is good, what is bad? Importance of recognizing it. Sometimes we take bad for good; good for bad ... It is not easy to name things by their own name.

Omniscience is a very common concept in the hereafter, but it is sometimes difficult to understand in the material world. Be at all times and everywhere ... Probably comparable to ocean water, ubiquitous and encompassing the marine world.

Appearances

Appearances are deceptive, beware of appearances, we have been warned. Sometimes they lead us to play so many roles in life that we miss out. How many times do we act for someone to see us, reciprocate, save the image, to ... Stay authentic, stay yourself, what should be so natural is a real luxury these days.

Vintage serie

Sometimes we like a particular moment or feel close to it. For my part, it is at the end of the XIX century, beginning of the XX century, the same for the artistic movement in painting.

Why? Did I live in that moment in a previous life, an existence that particularly marked me? We do not know, the barriers of forgetting prevent us ... Is it better to know? Probably not, leaving it hidden in the hidden domain

Between two worlds

Between two worlds, it is the symbol of the passage from the material world to the immaterial world. We lose what we have and do not know where we will go, it is the unknown that irresistibly scares and attracts. The white color is blinding, we do not distinguish what is in this light. But do we still want to stay in the rubble? No, we want to move forward, evolution is the key to getting out.
